On Wednesday 16 August 2023, the now traditional Turing Summer Drinks took place. Whereas last year we celebrated the start of our office, this time we could proudly toast on the expansion of our team and the move to new premises. As in previous years, we met again yesterday at Pavlov restaurant in The Hague, where we enjoyed conversations with each other and the summery weather accompanied by a cold drink. Rudy van Belkom, director of Stichting Toekomstbeeld der Techniek, gave an interesting lecture on “Democracy in Crisis: is technology part of the problem or part of the solution?“. Stichting Toekomstbeeld der Techniek has been developing futures studies at the intersection of technology and society since 1968. Rudy van Belkom talked about online civic engagement and digital democracy, among other topics. The summer drink was successful again this year and we are already looking forward to raising a glass to new successes next year.
